BIOS

HANDAN OZBILGIN Director
Experimental theater productions include: The Wall-House-Yard Trilogy (Wall participated at 2006 Istanbul Theater Festival and was invited to the 2006 Egypt International Experimental Theater Festival; Rumi’s Math (2003 New York Fringe Festival). In NYC, Handan has directed the work of prominent Turkish playwrights: That’s How It Works by Ozen Yula at the Around the World in 24 Hours Festival 2009 (World Premiere); I Anatolia by Gungor Dilmen 2003 (World Premiere). Off-Broadway way credits include: Immigrant Theater project co-director for Suzie Lorie Parks’ 365 Days and the 2007 Difficult Dialogues Reading Series; Lark Theater Company, Assistant Director for Pera Palas. In addition to directing, Handan teaches acting at LAGCC where she develops original work for her students. Using the themes of technology and home, the Acting 1 class created a array of distinctive characters on the Facebook project,  Creating a Character, Creating a Scene (2009). Handan Ozbilgin is the Assistant Artistic director at LPAC. She is Lincoln Center Director’s Lab alumni.


EGE MALTEPE (Maids3:337): Ege is from istanbul, Turkey. She came to New York on a Fulbright Scholarship in 2007 and got her MA in Acting as a student of Oscar Award winner director Mike Nichols at The New Actors Workshop, NYC. She travels back and forth between New York and Istanbul and teahing workshops on Improvisational Acting under the roof of SPOLIN-IST, an organization she founded with her husband in 2009. While getting ready to produce her own play “Tea For Three” in New York, she’s rehearsing Somerset Maugham’s “The Letter” at The Hudson Guild Theater, where she will play the lead. Ege willalso be co-directing and acting in Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” as a part of V-Day 2011 in NYC.

APRIL EVANS (Maid4:39N/Maids3:337/Maids 2:45E/Maids: FINAL): April Evans has appeared in LPAC’s Three Sisters Vanishing and Maids 4:39N. New York credits include Suzan-Lori Parks’ 365 Days/Plays (Clubbed Thumb), TD/BC (Theatre Row), Macbeth Without Words (The Brick Theatre), and Dreambabies (Riant Theatre). Film: Random Unrelated Projects (NY Int’l Independent Film & Video Festival), The Filter Project.  An alumna of Long Island’s C.W. Post, favorite roles include Chantal in The Balcony, Sharla in Killer Joe, Hope in Urinetown, Desdemona in Othello, Cunningham in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and Miranda in The Tempest. April is a native of Houston, Texas, where she graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

AYHAN AKTAS (Maids 2:45E): Ayhan is from Istanbul/TURKEY where he studied acting at the most prestigious conservatory Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. His stage credits include: Raskolnikov in Dostoevsky’s “Crime and Punishment” and Georg Büchner ‘s “ Leonce and Lena”. He appeared in a movie called “Veda”, about the founder of Turkish Republic, Ataturk. He studied Martial Arts In Istanbul In order to improve his skills as a physical theater actor He was in the cast of Target Margin’s production of “Second Language”. And for the same company he worked as a production assistant for The Tempest.
 FERNANDO TORRES (Maids 2:45E, Maids: FINAL): Fernando Torres is an American/ Chilean Actor, Artist and Poet. He recently performed in the Off Off Broadway play “Second Language” at The Chocolate Factory and has been apart of many improvisational skits for companies such as PACT and LPAC. He is currently writer of a Youtube Television show which will air by the end of this year as well as his second art exhibition. He is reparing for his next role in “For Rent” which opens at the end of June and is also directed by Handan Ozbilgin.

REBECCA-LYNNE DAVID (Maids 2:45E, Maids:FINAL) This is Rebecca’s fourth production with Handan Ozbilgin Bromley. Past Handan productions include two different workshops of Three Sisters and Maids 2:45E. Past New York credits include Olivia in Twelfth Night, Claire in Who Will Carry the Word?, Masha in The Seagull, The Jealous Wife in The Best Party Ever, and Laura in the world premiere of Between You and Me. Rebecca is a graduate of Circle in the Square Theatre School.

DANA KING( Maids4:39N, Maids: FINAL) is an actress, writer, director, dancer and choreographer. Dana has been involved with the arts for many years. She has acted in many plays including: A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Colored Girls, Hamlet, Cabaret, Second Language, Stepping Out, Uncle Vanya and many more. This is her second time acting in “The Maids”. She has also directed and produced four of her own productions. She is a classically trained actress. She is tenacious and strives to excel in everything and push her own boundaries. She would like to thank her director, Handan for allowing her to be a part of this production. Dana also has many promising upcoming projects.

 

Nelson Patino, Jr. (Maids: FINAL)is a working performer, playwright and director in New York City. Graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia H.S of Performing Arts. He is an associated actor for MCC Theater. His stage credits include: “Passionella” and “John P. Wintergreen” at City Center. MCC Theaters “Uncensored”, “On the Fly” and “Rebel Verses” in well known theaters such as the Cherry Lane Theater and more. MCC Theater’s Freshplay Festival plays along with his playwright debut of “In The Moment”. Performed in the operetta “Naughty Marietta” in Fiorello Performing Arts Center. He has recently performed in “For Rent” directed by Handan Ozbilgin and will also be involved in the final chapter of “Maids”. Current and recent projects include directing in the October Autumnal Play festival at the Roy Arias Theater.
